Cardinals Finish Day 2 Prelims at Ohio State Fall Invitational

The University of Louisville swimming team put up some impressive performances during the prelims on Day 2 at the Ohio State Fall Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The meet, which features the nationally ranked Buckeyes along with teams from Indiana, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Ohio University, Cal, and Kenyon, will take place over three days.

Gabi Albiero, from Louisville, won the 100M butterfly, finishing with an impressive time of 59.14. She was the only swimmer in the event to go under a minute. Christiana Regenauer, also from Louisville, finished third with a time of 1:00.38. In the men’s 100M butterfly, Indiana’s Tomer Frankel took the win with a time of 52.27. Louisville’s Dalton Lowe finished third in 53.36.

Abby Hay, from Louisville, had the fastest time in the women’s 400M IM with a time of 4:50.67. Kim Herkle finished fifth for Louisville with a time of 4:53.41. In the men’s 400M IM, Ohio State’s Tristan Jankovics had the fastest time at 4:19.63. Louisville’s Tommy Bried finished second with a time of 4:21.65.

In the women’s 200M freestyle, IU’s Anna Peplowski finished first with a time of 1:59.18. Summer Cardwell, from Louisville, finished fourth with a time of 2:02.60. In the men’s 200M freestyle, IU’s Rafael Miroslaw finished first in 1:47.44. Louisville’s Murilo Sartori finished fourth with a time of 1:49.64.

Hannah Bach, from Ohio State, took the win in the women’s 100M breaststroke with a time of 1:09.35. Cecilia Viberg, from Louisville, finished seventh with a time of 1:11.12. In the men’s 100M breaststroke, Denis Petrov, from Louisville, edged out the competition to take the win with a time of 1:00.96.

In the women’s 100M backstroke, IU’s Mya DeWitt came out on top with a time of 1:01.29. Paige Hetrick, from Louisville, finished second with a time of 1:01.86. In the men’s 100M backstroke, ND’s Tommy Janton took the win with a time of 54.36. Jackson Millard, from Louisville, had the best time for the Cardinals, finishing seventh with a time of 55.91.

The competition will continue with events such as the 200 Medley Relay, 100 Butterfly, 400 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 800 Freestyle Relay, 1-Meter Dive, and 3-Meter Dive on Friday, Nov. 17, and the 1650 Free, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Free Relay, and Platform Dive on Saturday, Nov. 18.
