The University of Louisville baseball team is gearing up for an action-packed opening weekend for the 2024 season. They will be participating in a four-team round robin event at USF in Tampa, Florida.
The Cardinals will kick off their season with a game against Indiana State on February 16th at noon ET. The following day, they will face off against USF on their home field at 4:00 p.m. ET. The weekend will wrap up with a game against UConn on February 18th at 9:30 a.m. ET.
It’s worth noting that all three of Louisville’s opening weekend opponents have had recent success in the NCAA Super Regional round. Indiana State finished with an impressive 45-17 record last season and made it to the Fort Worth Super Regional against TCU.
USF had a tough season last year with a 21-39 record, but they were able to make it to the Super Regional round in 2021 after winning the Gainesville Regional.
UConn, with a 44-17 record last season, earned a No. 2 seed in the Gainesville Regional. This will be the third time that Louisville and UConn have faced off on the opening weekend, having played each other in 2019 and 2022.
