To be eligible for the Academic All-District selections, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Undergraduate student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, while graduate student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA as both an undergraduate and graduate student. Transfer student-athletes in their first semester at a new institution must have maintained a 3.50 GPA at their former school. Additionally, student-athletes must have competed in 90% of their institution’s games or started in at least 66% of games played. Each institution is limited to six award recipients.

In their last appearance in 2018, Kentucky came out victorious by defeating South Florida, UCLA, and North Carolina. They went undefeated and were crowned champions. Former players Rhyne Howard and Taylor Murray were recognized for their outstanding performances and were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Howard also receiving the Most Valuable Player award.

Petty notched a career-high tying 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in the game, marking her second double-double of the season. Her performance places her among the elite in the Southeastern Conference as one of only nine players to achieve multiple double-doubles this year. Petty also contributed three steals, highlighting her defensive prowess. She currently ranks second in the conference and 15th in the nation in rebounds per game, averaging an impressive 12.0.
