Trey Allen and Jayden Ulrich were both recognized for the second time this season and received the ACC Field Performers of the Week awards. Cade DeWitt, a freshman, also received his second conference weekly award and was named the ACC Male Freshman of the Week.

In addition to these records, the Wildcats had a successful weekend with seven top-10 finishes and four personal bests. Overall, the team finished the meet with three new records, 12 top-10 finishes, and 11 personal bests.

Director of track & field and cross country Joe Franklin expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying, “We saw a lot of positive things this weekend across the board. Trey Allen, Jayden Ulrich, and Cade DeWitt were all very impressive today, and we also were able to see multiple athletes write their names into our record books with their performances here.”

The Wildcats had a successful day overall, with six top-five finishes and seven personal bests. In the distance medley relay event, the women’s A team consisting of Sydney Steely, Alysia Johnson, Jenna Schwinghamer, and Phoebe McCowan achieved a season-best time of 11:04.82, ranking them eighth on the UK all-time performers list.

The day started off strong with Noah Koch securing his first event victory as a Cardinal in the men’s weight throw. Koch recorded a throw of 20.32m (66-8), which is the fifth-best toss in school history. Koch’s performance shows promise for his future with the Louisville team.

The Wildcats will be facing tough competition, going up against schools such as Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M. The importance of this meet cannot be understated, as performances at this event could impact the athletes’ chances of qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships.

The World Athletics Indoor Tour, established in 2016, aims to raise the profile of indoor track and field by providing high-level competition outside of World Championship events. The PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational is classified as a bronze-level event on the tour, making it a great opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills.

Leading the way for the Cardinals this season is Trey Allen, a five-time All-American. Allen currently holds the top mark nationally in the men’s high jump, having cleared a height of 2.24m (7-4.25) at the KTCCCA College Opener in December. His exceptional performance has been a major contributing factor to the team’s overall success.

At the Corky Classic, the Wildcats will be facing tough competition from teams such as Baylor, Georgia Tech, and TCU. The events will kick off on Friday at 7 p.m. ET with the Men’s Pole Vault, and continue on Saturday with the Women’s 200m “B” sections.
