On Tuesday, 16 former players from the University of Louisville Football program showcased their skills at L&N Stadium for the NFL Pro Day. Malik Cunningham, who was one of five players to work out at the NFL Combine, threw the ball impressively. He utilized former UofL wide receivers and threw both intermediate and deep routes. Cunningham’s gameplay was solid despite a past injury, and he recorded 12 rushing scores, as well as set a school record for career touchdowns responsible for with 120.
Yasir Abdullah, Kei’Trel Clark and Yaya Diaby, who were also among the invitees for the Combine, presented their skills on the field without focusing on the 40-yard dash. Clark was noted for his performance in the East-West Shrine workouts and game, along with a favorable run at the NFL Combine. He produced a career best 51 tackles along with an interception, which was taken a distance of 46 yards for a touchdown against Pitt.
Diaby and Abdullah recorded 18.5 sacks last season, and in front of scouts, they demonstrated their talents and speed. Diaby said that he was appreciating the process and wanted to prove the scouts that he could ‘bend and get around the corner.’
There have been 133 University of Louisville players drafted, and the coaching staff are looking for the first draftee since Tutu Atwell was selected in the second round of the 2021 draft. Tight end Marshon Ford, who participated in the NFL Pro Day, stated that this occurrence was one of the most exquisite opportunities put out there, and that he was happy to have the chance to display his skills in front of scouts.
