Max Kennedy, a golfer from the University of Louisville, has received the PING All-American Honorable Mention title. Kennedy’s impressive performance in his third season with the Cardinals led them to the Morgan Hill Regional and seven top-five team finishes in 2022-23. In the most successful season of his career, Kennedy posted a 71.30 stroke average, the sixth-best in school history. He was also responsible for eight finishes in the top 15.
Kennedy, an All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree, managed to record seven consecutive top-10 finishes during the season, including his first collegiate win at the Aggie Invitational, where he scored a personal best 7-under-par 209. Moreover, he performed excellently in the ACC Championship, recording a score of 5-under-par—an outstanding achievement.
Additionally, Kennedy has been selected to represent the International Team in the Walker Cup championship that will take place in June. Over the past three seasons, he has secured eight top-10 finishes and has maintained a solid 72.40 stroke average.
In 1959, PING Founder Karsten Solheim introduced his groundbreaking putter, the 1A “One of a Kind.” The putter earned a patent and marked Solheim’s first contraption in a long history of advancements that eventually formed PING. The USGA and R&A, the governing bodies of golf, both recognize PING as a game-changer in the introduction of technology advancements. Each year, PING honors the best college golfers with the PING All-American Honorable Mention title.
In addition to recognizing a PING All-American Honorable Mention in each division, PING also honors teams for academic excellence. A school must earn a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to be designated as a PING All-Academic Team. A total of 232 schools achieved All-Academic Team status for the 2020-21 season, including 81 Division I universities.
