In a bold move to challenge the recruiting efforts of Duke basketball, Kentucky head coach John Calipari has made his intentions clear by extending offers to five-star power forward Cameron Boozer and four-star combo guard Cayden Boozer. The highly anticipated offers came exactly a year after Duke became the first high-major program to express interest in the talented twin sons of former Duke basketball star and NBA All-Star, Carlos Boozer.
Despite the fact that the Boozer twins still have two years of high school left, it is surprising that they have received fewer than a dozen offers thus far. Notably, Duke and their top rival Kentucky are the only prestigious basketball powerhouses that have made formal offers to the talented duo.
Cameron Boozer, standing at an impressive 6-foot-9 and weighing 220 pounds, is regarded as a phenom in his class and currently holds the top spot in the 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings. On the other hand, Cayden Boozer, a versatile playmaker measuring 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, holds a respectable ranking of No. 31 in his class.
At present, neither the 247Sports Crystal Ball nor the Rivals FutureCast offer any predictions for the future destination of the Boozer twins. Official visits for the twins can only commence in August, and as of now, they have not scheduled any trips. Furthermore, the twins have made it clear on multiple occasions that they are not bound to the same college and may choose different paths for their collegiate careers.
Meanwhile, Duke basketball’s newly appointed head coach, Jon Scheyer, and his coaching staff have wasted no time in targeting other highly sought-after 2025 prospects. Among their top targets are Montverde’s five-star small forward Cooper Flagg, who is currently ranked No. 2 overall, and Lincoln Park’s five-star point guard Meleek Thomas, who holds an impressive No. 6 ranking in his class.
As the battle between Duke and Kentucky intensifies for the services of the Boozer twins, college basketball fans eagerly await their decision, which could potentially shape the landscape of the sport in the coming years. The recruitment process is still in its early stages, and both programs will undoubtedly employ all means necessary to secure the commitment of these exceptional young talents.
