LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track & field program is set to kick off its indoor season this Friday, Dec. 8, at the Indiana Early Bird Meet hosted by Indiana University. The Wildcats will face tough competition from schools such as Butler, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Saint Louis.
The meet will begin at noon ET with the women’s pentathlon 60-meter hurdles and will continue throughout the day with various track and field events. Notable athletes returning for the Wildcats include Keaton Daniel, the SEC Indoor and Outdoor Pole Vault champion, and All-Americans Luke Brown and Kennedy Lightner. The team has also added several transfers and freshmen to their roster.
The women’s team will see the return of All-American Victoria Perrow, who took silver at the outdoor SEC & NCAA championships in the 4×100-meter relay last season. All-Americans Jenna Schwinghamer and Sydney Steely will also be back after setting a new school record in the Distance Medley Relay.
The event lineup includes a variety of events such as the women’s weight throw, men’s long jump, and women’s pole vault. The competition will be fierce as athletes from all schools look to start their indoor season on a high note.
