The Kentucky Wildcats are heading to Toronto, Canada, for an international summer event ahead of the 2023-24 men’s basketball season. Head coach John Calipari announced on his radio show that the program is currently in the process of scheduling the event, which will provide the Wildcats with an opportunity to face strong competition months before the start of the season.

Calipari received a call about the possibility of participating in the event, and he expects to receive confirmation soon. The event is expected to be a week-long competition against international teams, and sources indicate that Kentucky will be representing the United States. The event is believed to be the GLOBL JAM, which Baylor University participated in last year.

Assistant coach Chin Coleman revealed that the event would be taking place in Toronto while discussing the team’s upcoming schedule. Coleman said that the games in Toronto would be critical for a young team like Kentucky, but he accidentally revealed the location before the official announcement.

The GLOBL JAM is an Under-23 tournament featuring teams from the USA, Canada, Italy, and Brazil in a partnership between Canada Basketball and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The tournament is recognized by FIBA and includes a four-team pool competing in round-robin action, followed by the semifinal round and championship game.

Kentucky’s participation in the event will provide valuable experience for a young team. The Wildcats will be able to face international competition and gain a better understanding of where they stand before the start of the season. While details are still being worked out, it is clear that the event will be a critical part of the Wildcats’ preparation for the upcoming season.
