Louisville, Ky – The University of Louisville baseball team has announced their five captains for the upcoming 2024 season. Logan Beard, JT Benson, Dylan Hoy, Isaac Humphrey, and Evan Webster will serve as the leaders for the Cardinals. This marks Beard and Humphrey’s second consecutive season as captains.

Beard, a senior and a two-year starter, has been with the Louisville program for four seasons. He boasts an impressive career, having played in 118 games with a .297 average, 11 home runs, and 88 RBIs. His performance earned him the title of Freshman All-American in 2022.

Benson, also entering his fourth season with the Cardinals, faced numerous injuries in 2022 and 2023. Despite these setbacks, he managed to play in 49 games last season, hitting .288 with six home runs, 34 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases.

Humphrey, a native of Livermore, Ky., is returning for his fourth season as a starter. In his career, he holds a .295 average in 112 games, with 20 doubles, eight home runs, and 62 RBIs. Humphrey also boasts a career .437 on-base percentage and 17 stolen bases.

Hoy, one of the four four-year transfers added during the offseason, has made an immediate impact on the team. The senior infielder played four seasons at Marist, where he maintained a .277 average in 128 games. During that time, he recorded 25 doubles, 65 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases.

Webster, entering his fifth season with Louisville, has been a solid left-handed pitcher for the team. He has made 68 appearances on the mound, boasting a 9-5 record with a 4.06 ERA. Webster has struck out 101 batters in 108.2 innings pitched.

The Cardinals, led by these five captains, are gearing up for the 2024 season, which begins with three games in Tampa, Fla. from Feb. 16-18.
