Louisville Basketball Loses Three Freshmen to Transfer

The University of Louisville’s basketball program has been dealt a blow as three freshmen have announced their intention to transfer out of the program. Kamari Lands was the first to make the announcement on Friday, followed by Devin Ree and Fabio Basili later that day.

Lands expressed gratitude towards his family, teammates, and the Louisville staff and fanbase in a written statement but revealed that he and the staff had come to a mutual decision to part ways. Ree and Basili also announced their plans to enter the transfer portal.

The UofL men’s basketball team currently has four freshmen on its roster, including Emmanuel Okorafor, and one redshirt freshman in Mike James. With a disappointing 4-28 overall record, their postseason is likely over following a loss in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday.

When a player declares their intent to transfer, they must provide written notification to the university, which has 48 hours to comply with the request. Once the request is forwarded to the transfer portal, other schools may contact the player for possible recruitment.
