Oscar Tshiebwe has had an impressive two seasons at Kentucky, with averages of 16.9 points, 14.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He has earned numerous accolades, including Player of the Year Awards, All-SEC, All-Defense, and AP All-American teams. As he heads into his final year of eligibility, Tshiebwe is open to returning to Kentucky, despite expectations that he would turn pro at the end of the season.
According to his agent, Tshiebwe wants to do what’s best for his career and life, and returning to Kentucky for another national championship chase is a possibility. Although Kentucky faces tough competition in the tournament, Tshiebwe is determined to help lead the team to a deep run.
While Tshiebwe’s future in the professional ranks is uncertain, he is projected as a late second-rounder or a possible undrafted player. His success at Kentucky may not translate to the next level due to differences in playing styles. As such, another season at Kentucky may be more appealing than playing in the G League or a low-level European league.
