Louisville’s forward, Olivia Cochran, has been a crucial player for the team this season. Her role may go unnoticed by some, but it’s not undervalued by the Cardinals. In her junior year, Cochran has been consistent for the Cards.
Cochran has recorded several impressive performances this season. She has scored in double figures in four straight games, and in 16 out of 29 games, averaging 9.9 points per game. Additionally, she has tallied ten or more rebounds in five games this season, with a season-high of 13 rebounds against Pitt. Cochran’s rebounding ability has been critical for Louisville’s success, as it has helped the team gain possession of the ball and limit their opponents’ offensive opportunities.
Cochran’s was named to the ACC Second Team All-Tournament. She played a key role in the team’s victory over Notre Dame in the ACC semifinals, scoring 12 points and leading the team with eight rebounds. Cochran also hit the tying layup in overtime against Notre Dame earlier in the season, finishing the game with six points and five rebounds.
In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Cochran has also shown her defense this season. She has recorded multiple blocks and steals in several games, including two blocks and a steal against Boston College and two steals against Notre Dame. Cochran’s versatility on both ends of the court has been crucial for the Cardinals’ success this season.
Cochran’s consistent performance this season has earned her a spot on the Katrina McClain Award Watch List, which recognizes the best power forwards in women’s college basketball. As the Cards make a run deep into the tournament Cochran will be vital to their success.
