Right from the kickoff, it was evident that this matchup would be a thrilling one. The two sides traded blows early on, with Virginia’s offense effectively penetrating Louisville’s defense. However, the Cardinals’ defensive unit swiftly adjusted their strategy and began applying relentless pressure, forcing the Cavaliers into costly turnovers.

The Cardinals got off to a strong start, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback, John Thompson, found wide receiver, Mark Johnson, for a 20-yard touchdown pass, giving Louisville an early 7-0 lead. The Cavaliers, however, quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, tying the game at 7-7.

Louisville, Ky. – The Louisville Cardinals delivered an impressive performance on November 4th, defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies with a resounding score of 34-3 at L&N Stadium. It was a game that showcased the Cardinals’ dominance on both sides of the ball, solidifying their standing as a formidable force in the conference.

Coach Brohm emphasized the defensive performance, highlighting the team’s ability to apply pressure on the quarterback and disrupt opponents’ passing game. He credited the coaching staff for their preparation and game plan, as well as the unselfishness of the offense in complementing the defense. Brohm also discussed the importance of depth and the role of the transfer portal in adding talented players to the team.
