The highly anticipated fourth-annual adidas MLS College Showcase is scheduled to take place from December 6th to 9th in Phoenix, Arizona. It is a closed-door scouting event exclusively sanctioned by the NCAA. This showcase serves as a platform for the top 44 college players, ranging from freshmen to graduate students, to showcase their abilities in various training sessions, testing, interviews, and match play.

Known by his teammates as “The Hammer,” Damge has been an exceptional student-athlete throughout his four years at Kentucky. Hailing from Mason, Ohio, he boasts an impressive 3.93 grade-point average as a Finance and Accounting major.

In the opening round, the Cardinals secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Dayton at their home stadium. Josh Jones, David Boccuzzo, and Bryce LeBel all found the back of the net in the first half, while Brandon McManus scored the game-winning goal in the 64th minute.

This triumph marks the first postseason win for the Cardinals since the 2019 season when they reached the third round. The game against Dayton featured a flurry of goals in the first half. In the 13th minute, Josh Jones and Sander Roed combined to give Louisville the opening goal. Roed’s corner kick found Jones’ head, which deflected off the right post into the net.

In an exciting announcement on Monday afternoon, the NCAA revealed that the Kentucky men’s soccer team has received an at-large bid for the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Wildcats, who finished as the last of the 48 teams selected, will be representing the Sun Belt Conference along with Marshall, West Virginia, UCF, and James Madison.

This will mark the 15th NCAA appearance for the Louisville men’s soccer program, an impressive record that has been amassed in just 17 seasons. Under the guidance of head coach John Michael Hayden, the Cardinals have qualified for the postseason in three consecutive years and four out of the last five seasons.

Barker-John had a slow start to the season, but he soon found his stride and became an instrumental player for the Cardinals. Scoring just one point in the first six matches, the sophomore showcased his skills by scoring eight goals in an eight-match stretch, including several multi-goal performances. Barker-John currently leads the Cardinals with nine goals and 21 points, placing him sixth and fifth in the ACC, respectively.

Clemson got off to a quick start, scoring the opening goal in just the seventh minute. However, Louisville quickly responded 12 minutes later. David Boccuzzo created a turnover in the attacking third, and Parker Forbes’ cross connected with Gage Guerra’s head, finding the back of the net for an equalizer.

In their quarterfinal round, Louisville delivered an impressive performance, defeating second-ranked and top-seeded Notre Dame 4-3. Junior midfielder Sander Roed had a breakthrough game, scoring a hat trick with three goals and assisting on Joshua Jones’ game-winning goal in the 89th minute.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – This Sunday, the University of Louisville men’s soccer team will embark on a challenging match against second-ranked Notre Dame in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Championship.
