In the third quarter, things looked promising for Louisville as they forced a USC punt and Quincy Riley made a huge play with a 61-yard interception return, the longest in Holiday Bowl history. Guerendo capitalized on the opportunity and scored his second touchdown of the game with a one-yard run, cutting the deficit to seven points.

Gillotte’s standout game came against Boston College, where he recorded a career best 3.0 sacks. He also managed to get a pair of sacks against Duke in a shutout victory over the Blue Devils. With a total of 22.0 career sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss, Gillotte has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in his 37 career games for the Cardinals.

This marks the most selections for the Louisville program since the 2017 season, when four players were taken. The Cardinals have had at least one player selected in 12 of the last 14 seasons, and head coach John Michael Hayden has seen seven players drafted in his five years with the program.

The Cardinals will kick off their season with back-to-back games up north, first against Denver and then against Colorado. Last season, Louisville suffered a narrow 4-5 defeat against Denver in their opening game, but they found redemption in a convincing 12-5 victory over No. 25 ranked Colorado.

Thrash had an impressive season with the Cardinals, leading the squad in receiving with 63 receptions for 858 yards and six touchdowns. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s success, as they finished with a 10-3 record and made an appearance in the ACC title game.

The admission fee for the event is $30 and includes a full buffet, a special player and coach meet-and-greet, a poster, autographs, and a ticket to the women’s basketball game against Pittsburgh.

Beard, a senior and a two-year starter, has been with the Louisville program for four seasons. He boasts an impressive career, having played in 118 games with a .297 average, 11 home runs, and 88 RBIs. His performance earned him the title of Freshman All-American in 2022.

The season kicks off with two consecutive doubleheaders at home. The first doubleheader will be against EKU and Lipscomb on January 20, followed by another doubleheader against MTSU and Kennesaw State on January 28. The team will then close out their homestand with a match against Austin Peay on February 1.

“We knew that, traditionally, their DNA is the three-point shot, and the other important piece is the driving of the basketball and offensive rebounding. I am disappointed and frustrated that we worked on this for a few days and got in the game and did not execute,” said Payne. “It falls on me, the staff, the players, all of us. Nobody is without blame and we all are talking about how we hold each other accountable more than we already do.”

This marks Scott’s second appearance on the second team, as she made the list last season during Louisville’s run to the National Finals. DeBeer, on the other hand, missed the majority of last season due to injury and was therefore not eligible. However, she more than made up for it this year, earning several accolades including being named East Region Player of the Year and first team All-East Region, as well as NCAA All-Regional.
