Texas Senior Nathan Salz Commits to University of Louisville Football and Track Teams

Jordan High School senior Nathan Salz is a multi-talented athlete who has made a name for himself as both a football and track star. Despite being one of the most underrated prep talents in Texas, Salz has received an offer from the University of Louisville football team, and he hopes to make the Cardinals’ track team as well due to his record-holding speed. Salz has achieved the fastest FAT 100-meter time in the country for the 2023 track and field season, clocking in at 10.31 seconds. He has also run a 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds, which is among the fastest times recorded by wide receivers at the 2023 NFL Combine.

Dusty Stanfield, Salz’s Jordan HS 7v7 coach, is impressed with Salz’s speed, calling him one of the fastest wide receivers he has ever seen. Stanfield compared Salz’s speed to Yamon Figurs, who ran the fastest time in the NFL Combine before being drafted in 2007. Despite Salz’s impressive abilities, he has received very few Division I offers and is currently unranked by 247 Sports and Rivals. Salz believes this is due to the fact that he is part of the first graduating class at Jordan High School, a new institution.

The 2021 football season was the first time that the Jordan football team played on an official varsity schedule, which may also have affected Salz’s recruiting. His senior season was further impacted by a collarbone injury, but he was able to finish the year with the most yards per reception on the team. Despite the challenges, Salz has maintained a positive attitude and focused on being the best athlete he can be.

Salz committed to Louisville’s football program because he felt that the coaches had shown him the most love. He hopes to play both football and track at the university level and is confident that he will be able to balance both sports. Salz dreams of one day playing professionally, either in the NFL or representing USA Track & Field. For now, he is eager to see how his collegiate career unfolds.
