Devin Booker and Julius Randle, both former Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball players, have been recognized as the NBA Players of the Week for Week 20.
Booker played for Kentucky during the 2014-15 season, where he was a key contributor to the team’s 38-1 record and a runner-up finish in the NCAA tournament. He averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 47.0% from the field and 41.1% from beyond the arc. The Suns selected Booker with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, and he has been a vital member of their team ever since.
In Week 20 of the NBA season, Booker teamed up with fellow superstar Kevin Durant to lead the Suns to an undefeated week, averaging 36.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game. His outstanding performance included a 36-point outburst against Dallas on Sunday, where he shot 60% from the field. Booker has been averaging 27.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game this season, and the Suns are currently sitting at No. 4 in the Western Conference standings.
Randle played for Kentucky during the 2013-14 season, where he led the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks per game. He averaged 15.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 50.0% from the field. Randle was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, and he has been making a name for himself in the league ever since.
In Week 20 of the NBA season, Randle led the Knicks to an undefeated week, averaging 29.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. His standout performance included a game-winning 3-pointer against the Miami Heat on Friday night. Randle has been averaging 25.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season, and the Knicks are currently sitting at No. 5 in the Eastern Conference standings, riding a nine-game winning streak as they head into Week 21.
