Hailey Van Lith has been chosen for the National Ballot of the John R. Wooden Award. She is among 15 student-athletes who are in the running for the Wooden Award All-American Team and the Wooden Award Trophy, which is given to the best college basketball player in the United States.
Van Lith has been the driving force for the Cardinals throughout the season, leading the team with an average of 19.6 points per game while also ranking second on the team in rebounds (4.9) and assists (3.4) per game. Her scoring average of 19.6 points per game is the third-highest in the ACC and the 23rd highest in the nation. Additionally, she is ranked 17th nationally for minutes played (37.0), 12th in points (607), and 17th in field goals made (215). Van Lith has scored at least 10 points in 29 of the 31 games she played this season and has scored 20 or more points 16 times.
Van Lith has been on fire lately, scoring 17 or more points in each of her last eight games. She has scored 20 or more points in her last three games and has recorded multiple steals in four of her last seven games. In the ACC Quarterfinals, she scored 26 points, 17 of which were scored in the first quarter, leading her team to a 74-48 victory over Wake Forest.
