Kentucky Wildcats Injury Update For NCAA Tournament

Kentucky is entering its first game in the NCAA Tournament against Providence in Greensboro with some injuries to its guards. Cason Wallace, Sahvir Wheeler, and CJ Fredrick have all been affected by various injuries, which could potentially impact the game.

Head coach John Calipari emphasized the importance of practice, stating that if players don’t practice, they won’t play. However, he did not reveal which players practiced on Monday after two days off.

Calipari stressed the need for his team to prepare for a physical game against Providence, which involves playing against their matchup zone. The team scrimmaged for almost two hours to ensure they were ready for the challenge. Wallace, who has started all 30 of his appearances as a freshman, suffered an ankle injury during a match against Vanderbilt on March 1, and has not been able to play at full capacity since then. Fredrick has also been struggling since injuring his ribs, while Wheeler has been out of play since March 1 due to an ankle injury and a minor procedure.

Calipari believes that Wheeler’s return could significantly impact the game, provided he practices for three days and shows the team that he is fully recovered. He hopes that Wheeler’s impact will be so great that it will make people wonder what the team would have achieved if he had been able to play throughout the season.
