Several teams have already ended their 2022-23 seasons after losing in various conference tournaments, which means coaches and teams are parting ways and creating job openings. One coach to keep an eye on is Josh Pastner, who is reportedly parting ways with Georgia Tech after a 15-18 season.
According to Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, Pastner could potentially join John Calipari’s coaching staff at Kentucky next season. Pastner previously worked with Calipari at Memphis during the 2008-09 season, and was even planning to follow Calipari to Kentucky before accepting the head coaching job at Memphis.
Tucker also mentioned that Pastner’s signature is on Calipari’s first Kentucky contract as a witness. While it remains to be seen whose spot Pastner would be taking if he does join the staff, it would undoubtedly be a beneficial addition for Calipari heading into the upcoming season.
