University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm has been named one of the 14 semifinalists for the 2023 George Munger College Coach of the Year Award. This prestigious award, presented yearly by the Maxwell Football Club, recognizes excellence in coaching at the collegiate level. The winner will be announced on January 10, 2024.
In his first season as head coach of the Cardinals, Brohm has led the team to a 10-3 overall record, the most wins by the program since 2013. Under Brohm’s guidance, the Cardinals secured a spot in the Holiday Bowl, where they will face USC at Petco Park in San Diego, California.
With a 7-1 record in the ACC, Brohm also led the Cardinals to their first appearance in a conference championship game against Florida State. Although Louisville fell to No. 4 Florida State 16-6, Brohm made history by becoming the first coach to guide two different teams to league title games in consecutive seasons.
Returning to his alma mater, Brohm achieved impressive victories over two ranked opponents. The Cardinals defeated No. 10 Notre Dame on October 7 and shut out then No. 20 Duke with a score of 23-0 on October 28 at L&N Stadium. Brohm, who played quarterback for UofL from 1989-1993, has shown his ability to lead both on and off the field.
The 2023 George Munger Award will be presented at the 87th Maxwell Awards Gala on March 8, 2024, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. This event is highly anticipated, and tickets will go on sale on December 15th.
