Louisville, Ky. – In a dominant display of football, the University of Louisville Cardinals secured their 10th consecutive home victory by defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies, 34-3. The Cardinals improved to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in ACC play, showcasing an impressive performance that featured 382 yards of offense, with 231 of those coming on the ground.

Led by running back Isaac Guerendo, the Cardinals offense was firing on all cylinders. Guerendo had a standout game, rushing for three touchdowns and 146 yards on just 11 attempts. His first touchdown, a 39-yard run, gave Louisville a 14-0 lead to start the second quarter. Guerendo’s impressive performance also included a 12-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a sealing 36-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. This marked Guerendo’s first 100-yard rushing game at Louisville and a single-game career-high in touchdowns.

The Cardinals’ passing game also had its moment to shine, with wide receiver Jadon Thompson recording his first Louisville touchdown on a 37-yard reception from quarterback Jack Plummer. Plummer, in an impressive display, tied the school record in completion percentage with 92%, completing 11 of 12 attempts.

Defensively, Louisville stifled Virginia Tech, holding them to a mere 140 net total yards, including only 68 yards on the ground. T.J. Quinn secured his first career interception in the third quarter, adding to his five tackles. Storm Duck led the defense with a season-high seven tackles and one pass breakup, while Cam’Ron Kelly recorded six tackles.

After the game, Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm spoke highly of his team’s performance. He praised their resilience and the way they stepped up in the absence of some key players. “They showed a lot of courage,” Brohm said. “All of those guys stepped up and did a really good job. That is a sign of a really good football team and the sign of a team that cares.”

Looking ahead, the Cardinals will have a short week to prepare for their next home game against the Virginia Cavaliers on Thursday, November 9. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcasted on ESPN.
