by

Louisville, Ky. – The University of Louisville football team is gearing up for their second consecutive home game as they prepare to take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on the ACC Network, with Chris Cotter, Mark Herzlich, and Ashley Stroehiln providing the commentary. The Cardinals are coming off a dominant 23-0 shutout victory over Duke, extending their home winning streak to nine games, tied for the fifth-longest in school history.

One of the notable achievements from the Duke game was Louisville’s first-ever shutout against a ranked opponent. The Cardinals’ defense held Duke to just 202 yards of total offense and 51 rushing yards. This stellar defensive performance marks the third straight game in which Louisville has held their opponents to under 300 yards of total offense, and the fourth straight game in which they have held their opponents to under 100 rushing yards.

Running back Jawhar Jordan had a standout performance in the Duke game, rushing for a career-high 163 yards on 21 carries and scoring two touchdowns. He currently leads the ACC in rushing with 824 yards and is just 176 yards away from becoming the school’s 23rd 1,000-yard rusher in a season.

Placekicker Brock Travelstead also had a solid outing against Duke, kicking three field goals to bring his season total to 13. He needs just one more field goal to crack the school’s top 10 for field goals made in a season.

The Cardinals are looking to improve their overall record to 8-1 for the first time since 2016. They have been dominant in the first quarter this season, outscoring their opponents 62-7. They also have a strong track record when coming off a loss, with head coach Jeff Brohm’s teams going 22-15 in such situations during his tenure.

Defensively, Louisville has been outstanding in the red zone, allowing just nine touchdowns in 14 attempts. They also have an impressive third down defense, holding opponents to a 29.2 percent conversion rate.

The Cardinals’ explosive offense has been a force to be reckoned with at home, averaging 41.9 points per game and scoring over 30 points in three of their first four games. They will look to continue this offensive prowess as they aim for their 10th consecutive home win.

Overall, Louisville’s recent performance has showcased their strength on both sides of the ball. With a shutout victory over a ranked opponent and impressive defensive and offensive statistics, the Cardinals are primed and ready for their upcoming matchup against Virginia Tech.
