El Ellis Declares For NBA Draft

El Ellis will test the waters and enter the NBA draft, he announced on his social media account and as first reported by Eric Crawford of WDRB.

In an announcement made via his social media accounts, Ellis revealed that he will remain eligible to rejoin Louisville’s team, or another college team if he chooses to transfer, as long as he signs with an NCAA-approved agent.

The 6-foot-3-inch senior played a significant role for coach Kenny Payne’s first Louisville team this past season, averaging 17.7 points per game while also recording a team-high 4.4 assists per game. In his social media post, Ellis expressed his gratitude to his coaches, teammates, and fans, writing: “This past year meant more to me than you could ever imagine. Playing for Louisville these past two years meant more to me than people know. I played every minute of every game like it was my last.”

Ellis is one of a handful of players leaving the Cardinals this year along with Curry, Lands, Lee, Basili, Withers and Wheeler all headed for the transfer portal.

Kenny Payne has been on the recruiting path lately landing some promising recruits to replenish the Louisville Cardinals roster for next year.
