Gillotte named Second Team All-American by The Athletic

Louisville, KY – University of Louisville defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte has earned the prestigious title of second team All-American, announced by The Athletic on Wednesday morning. Gillotte, who was also honored with a first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, has been a standout player for the Cardinals this season.

With a total of 11.0 sacks, Gillotte currently ranks eighth nationally in that category. This impressive statistic also places him at ninth on the school’s single-season list. The Boca Raton native has consistently performed at a high level, starting in all 13 games for his team. He has recorded a career-best 45 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss, contributing significantly to Louisville’s defense, which is nationally ranked at 16th.

Notably, Gillotte’s standout performance against Boston College resulted in his career-best 3.0 sacks. He also demonstrated his skill against Duke, where he contributed a pair of sacks in a dominant 23-0 shutout victory over the Blue Devils.

Throughout his career, Gillotte has amassed an impressive 22.0 sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss in 37 games for the Cardinals. These remarkable statistics are a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.

Louisville football will continue its postseason journey in the 2023 Holiday Bowl, with a face-off against USC on December 27th in San Diego, California. This will be another opportunity for Gillotte to showcase his skills on a national stage and further solidify his status as one of the top defensive linemen in the country.
