Jasper Johnson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Lexington, Kentucky, has been active in visiting various college basketball programs this season. The four-star sophomore recently received an offer from West Virginia, and he has expressed interest in visiting the Mountaineers soon.
According to Johnson, West Virginia’s conference play and victories over SEC teams and highly ranked opponents have caught his attention. In addition to West Virginia, he has visited Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Xavier. Johnson shared his thoughts on each program with 247Sports.
He praised Cincinnati’s atmosphere and coaching staff, stating that he appreciates the bond he’s forming with them. Johnson enjoyed his visit to Indiana and likes the tradition and community bond associated with the program. He also admires head coach Mike Woodson’s NBA experience and the team’s success in their conference.
Regarding Louisville: Johnson observed that the team has improved after a slow start and is being built up by coach Kenny Payne. He has spoken with Nolan Smith and feels that the program will become a winner in a couple of years.
Regarding Kentucky: Johnson found Kentucky’s facilities impressive, and the fact that the school is close to his home is a plus. He enjoyed watching the team play against Kansas and believes they will continue to produce top players.
Overall, Johnson is actively exploring his options and keeping an open mind as he considers different programs.
