Josh Allen Selected for NFL Pro Bowl

by

Josh Allen, the notorious wildcat legend and standout Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker, has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2024 Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Florida. This honor comes as a result of Allen’s remarkable performance during the 2023 season, where he broke records and left a lasting impact on the field.

The Pro Bowl Games are scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 1st, from 7-8:30 p.m. ET at the Nicholson Fieldhouse, University of Central Florida. Additionally, the flag football game will be held on Sunday, February 4th, from 3-6 p.m. ET at Camping World Stadium. Fans can catch the Pro Bowl Games on ESPN, while the flag football game will be televised on ESPN, ABC, Disney XD, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes, and NFL+.

In the 2023 season, Allen, who has already made a name for himself in the NFL as a fifth-year veteran, set a new record for the Jaguars by achieving an impressive 16.5 single-season sacks. His outstanding performance placed him third in the league for sacks that season. In fact, Allen became only the second player since 1982 to record at least 2.5 sacks in four different games, joining the esteemed Pro Football Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor, in this elite group.

This will be Allen’s second appearance in the Pro Bowl, the first one being in his rookie season in 2019. Prior to his professional career, Allen was a force to be reckoned with as a pass-rushing menace for the University of Kentucky Wildcats from 2015 to 2018. During his time there, he amassed a total of 31.5 career sacks and a staggering 17 sacks in 2018 alone. Allen shattered both the university’s career and single-season sack records, earning him the ninth spot on the Southeastern Conference’s career sacks chart.

His impact extended beyond sacks, as Allen also contributed 11 forced fumbles throughout his college career, tying former NFL linebacker Danny Trevathan’s school record. In 2018, he dominated the Wildcats’ defense by leading the team with 88 tackles and topping the SEC in sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles. His exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, as he received multiple accolades and was recognized as a first-team All-American by esteemed organizations like Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, AP, and more.

Kentucky had not seen a unanimous selection to the All-American team since defensive lineman Art Still in 1977 until Allen received this distinction in 2018. He also scooped up numerous national defensive awards that year, including the Nagurski, Bednarik, and Lott awards as the National Defensive Player of the Year. His exceptional skills and accomplishments earned him a top spot in the 2019 NFL Draft when the Jacksonville Jaguars chose him as the seventh overall pick, making him Kentucky’s highest draft pick since 2003.

With this latest selection, Allen adds his name to Kentucky’s impressive list of Pro Bowl players, with a total of 17 players earning the honor 51 times combined. Fans eager to witness Allen’s prowess on the field can find ticket information at probowl.com/tickets.
