Kentucky Football Welcomes Three New Transfers

by

In a recent announcement, University of Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops revealed that the football team has added three transfers to their 2024 roster. Wide receiver Fred Farrier II from UAB, offensive lineman Gerald Mincey from Tennessee, and defensive back Kristian Story from Alabama have all joined the team and will participate in spring workouts.

Farrier, a junior transfer from UAB, played in 28 career games with the Blazers, recording 28 catches for 377 yards and two touchdowns. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, Farrier is expected to bring depth and experience to Kentucky’s receiving corps. Coming out of Franklin County High School in Frankfort, Kentucky, Farrier was considered a three-star prospect and played both receiver and defensive back in high school.

Mincey, a senior transfer from Tennessee, brings size and strength to the offensive line. Standing at 6-6 and weighing 337 pounds, Mincey has played in 32 career games, including 13 starts for the Volunteers. He transferred to Tennessee from Florida in 2022 and played a key role in the offensive line’s success, allowing only two sacks in 2023. Mincey was rated a consensus three-star prospect in high school and helped lead Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to a state championship.

Story, a senior transfer from Alabama, adds depth to Kentucky’s secondary. Graduating with a degree in sport management, Story played in 36 career games for the Crimson Tide, totaling 22 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. He saw significant playing time in 2023, starting two games and making 15 tackles. Coming out of Lanett High School in Alabama, Story was a highly regarded four-star prospect and showcased his versatility by playing quarterback and safety in high school.

These three transfers join seven other transfers already on Kentucky’s 2024 roster, including quarterback Beau Allen, wide receiver Raymond Cottrell, offensive lineman Jalen Farmer, inside linebacker Jamon “Pop” Dumas-Johnson, wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin, running back Chip Trayanum, and quarterback Brock Vandagriff.

With these additions, Kentucky’s football team looks to add depth and talent to their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season. Fans can stay updated on the team’s progress by visiting ukathletics.com/football and following the team on social media.
