Former Kentucky forward and current New York Knicks All-Star Julius Randle is joining the NBA 3-Point Contest at the All-Star Weekend in Utah on Saturday night, as a replacement for Anfernee Simons of the Portland Trailblazers. Randle will compete against a star-studded field that includes fellow former Wildcat Tyler Herro, as well as Jayson Tatum, Kevin Huerter, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard, and Lauri Markkanen.
Randle boasts averages of 18.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists across 9 NBA seasons with the various teams. During his college career, Randle started all 40 games for the Wildcats in 2013-14, leading the team with 15.0 points per game and 10.4 rebounds. He was a Third Team All-American and SEC Freshman of the Year.
Randle was the No. 7 overall pick in 2014 and was taken by the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which features the 3-Point Contest, Dunk Contest, and Skills Challenge, will air at 8 PM ET on TNT.
