In a high-stakes matchup, the University of Louisville football team will face off against Miami with their eyes on securing a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game. A win on Saturday, Dec. 2 would guarantee the Cardinals’ first appearance in the championship game, while a loss would require multiple favorable outcomes for them to reach that goal.

Louisville comes into the game with a 9-1 record after a thrilling 31-24 comeback victory over Virginia last week. Isaac Guerendo’s 73-yard touchdown run with three minutes remaining sealed the win for the Cardinals. Despite overcoming a 14-0 halftime deficit, Virginia couldn’t hold on as Louisville tied the game with a 52-yard touchdown pass to Ahmari Huggins-Bruce.

Quarterback Jack Plummer had an impressive outing, completing 19-of-28 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Jawhar Jordan also had a standout performance, rushing for 95 yards. With this win, Louisville remains in contention for the ACC title game.

Miami, on the other hand, enters the matchup with a 6-4 record and a 2-4 conference record following a tough 27-20 loss to Florida State. This loss marks the third consecutive defeat against their rival, after previously winning four straight in the series.

Despite the loss, Miami’s defense put up a strong showing, recording three sacks and nine tackles for loss. Linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and safety James Williams led the team in tackles, with Mauigoa also contributing two sacks. Safety Kam Kinchens and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe were also instrumental in the defense’s success.

Offensively, Miami showcased some promising young talent. Freshman quarterback Emory Williams made his first start against Florida State, throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Jacolby George has an outstanding performance, amassing five receptions for a career-high 153 yards.

Heading into the game, Miami boasts the 19th-ranked defense in the country, allowing just 312.5 yards per game. Their rushing defense is particularly formidable, ranking sixth in the nation at 86.0 yards per game.

Wide receiver Xavier Restrep has been a key playmaker for Miami, tallying 60 receptions for 683 yards and four touchdowns. Jacolby George follows closely behind with 46 catches for 707 yards and seven touchdowns. On the defensive side, Francisco Mauigoa and Rueben Bain lead the team with 6.5 sacks, while Kamren Kinchens leads the team with four interceptions.

Both teams have a lot at stake in this crucial matchup. Louisville aims to secure their spot in the ACC title game, while Miami looks to bounce back from their recent loss and finish the season strong. With both teams boasting talented players on both sides of the ball, this game is sure to be an exciting and hard-fought battle.
