Dennis Evans, a highly-touted 7-foot-1 post player from Riverside, Calif., is scheduled to make an official visit to the University of Louisville next weekend. Evans, ranked as the No. 18 player in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports, recently backed off his commitment to Minnesota and is generating a lot of interest from top programs.
According to 247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi, TCU is also in the mix and has scheduled an in-home visit with Evans on Sunday. Evans has already received a Crystal Ball projection in favor of Louisville from Peegs.com Indiana contributor Trevor Andershock.
At Hillcrest High School in Riverside, Evans has developed into an elite shot blocker with a 7-foot-7 wingspan and nearly 9-foot-8 standing reach. Despite his imposing size, he has also made significant strides in his offensive game and mobility, according to Bossi.
In a recent game, Evans showcased his abilities with an impressive triple-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 blocks. This performance caught the attention of 247Sports, which noted his continued positive progression over the last 18 months.
Evans has drawn interest from several other programs, including Kansas, Florida State, and San Diego State. Louisville currently has commitments from small forwards Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams in the Class of 2023.
As Evans continues to impress, it remains to be seen where he will ultimately commit, but his official visit to Louisville next weekend suggests the Cardinals are serious contenders for his talents.
