Alabama Defeats Kentucky in Sunday Match

In a tough matchup on Sunday, the Kentucky women’s basketball team fell to Alabama with a final score of 91-74. Although five players from Kentucky scored in double figures, it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

Brooklyn Miles and Saniah Tyler led the team with 14 points each, followed closely by Amiya Jenkins with 13. Eniya Russell and Maddie Scherr also contributed with 11 points apiece.

The game kicked off with Kentucky scoring the first basket courtesy of a layup by Petty, but Alabama quickly responded with four consecutive points. The Cats managed to tie the game at 4-4 thanks to a layup by Jenkins, but Alabama once again had an answer, extending their lead to four. However, Kentucky fought back with an impressive 8-0 run, including three-pointers by Jenkins and Tyler, to take a 12-8 advantage. From there, Kentucky held onto the lead for the remainder of the period, finishing the first quarter with a 20-16 lead.

The second period started with a layup by Emma King for Kentucky, but Alabama swiftly countered with an 11-2 run, taking the lead with a score of 27-24. Kentucky put up a fight, resulting in a tie game at 27 and 29, but Alabama managed to regain control with a 15-5 run, heading into halftime with a 46-36 lead.

Coming out of halftime, Alabama dominated the third quarter with a 15-2 run, extending their lead to 61-38. They outscored Kentucky 24-11 in the period, taking a commanding 70-48 lead into the final quarter.

Despite a strong start to the fourth quarter with a 7-2 run, Kentucky couldn’t close the gap and get closer than 17 points.

Alabama’s Sarah Ashlee Barker was the game’s top scorer with an impressive 34 points.

Looking ahead, Kentucky will be back in action on Thursday as they host Mississippi State at Rupp Arena. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on SEC Network Plus.
