Kentucky loses to South Carolina in Monday’s match

In a tough battle against the No. 1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, the Kentucky women’s basketball team suffered a 98-36 loss on Monday night. Saniah Tyler led the Wildcats in scoring with 13 points, while Maddie Scherr contributed nine points along with four rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.

The Game started out with a tight score, as both teams were tied at 2-2 before South Carolina went on an 8-2 run to take a 10-4 lead. Kentucky fought back and managed to bring the score within one at 12-11 with a three-pointer from Scherr and a layup by Eniya Russell. However, South Carolina closed out the first quarter with a five-point run, leading 17-13.

South Carolina continued their dominance in the second quarter, going on a 14-0 run before Tyler hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 31-16. The Gamecocks quickly answered with seven consecutive points, while Tyler managed to score again, bringing the score to 38-18 in favor of South Carolina at halftime.

Coming into the third quarter, Kentucky scored the first points on a runner by Emma King. However, South Carolina responded with a 12-0 run before a layup by Brooklynn Miles gave the Cats some respite. The Gamecocks outscored Kentucky 33-11 in the period, establishing a commanding 79-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The final quarter saw South Carolina maintain their dominance, outscoring the Wildcats 19-4 and sealing their victory with a final margin of 98-36.

Looking ahead, Kentucky will have a chance to bounce back as they host Missouri at Rupp Arena on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. ET tipoff and will be televised on SEC Network Plus.
