Makenzie Wilson Receives SEC Specialist of the Week Honor

by

In a stunning display of skill and athleticism, junior Makenzie Wilson of the Kentucky Wildcats has been named Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week for her flawless performance on the vault. This announcement comes after Wilson earned a perfect score of 10.000 in Rupp Arena in Central Bank Center during the recent Excite Night event. This historic feat marks the first perfect 10.000 recorded in the venue since it began 40 years ago, and serves as a tribute to the legendary Jenny Hansen who competed for the Wildcats from 1992-1996.

Wilson’s incredible front handspring pike with a half twist showcased her mastery of the vault. As the anchor in the first rotation of the meet, she left spectators in awe with her flawless execution. This perfect score surpassed her previous career and season best of 9.975, which she achieved last season against Auburn. With this achievement, Wilson has now secured four individual wins on the vault event.

Looking ahead, the Wildcats will face a tough challenge as they head to No. 6 Alabama on Friday for an evening meet on SEC Network. This will be a prime opportunity for Wilson and her team to continue their impressive performances and showcase their skills against a highly ranked opponent. After their away meet, the Wildcats will return home to Lexington to host No. 9 Missouri the following week.
