Attention all aspiring dancers! The University of Kentucky is offering a golden opportunity to join their prestigious dance team. If you’ve ever dreamt of showcasing your talent on a collegiate level, then mark your calendars for the UK Dance Team Training Clinic on December 16th at the University of Kentucky.
Open to 8th grade through college students, this clinic will provide invaluable insights into what it truly takes to become a dancer at the University of Kentucky. Not only will participants be taught a dynamic hip-hop dance routine, but they will also have the privilege of learning the actual UK “tryout” fight song. Additionally, tryout skills will be reviewed to ensure that aspiring dancers are well-prepared for the rigorous selection process.
A Q&A session will provide an opportunity for attendees to gain further knowledge about the University of Kentucky Dance Team, including tryout procedures and other pertinent information. Even parents are encouraged to attend and witness the dedication and hard work required to succeed in collegiate dance.
As an added bonus, the University of Kentucky Dance Team coaches will be awarding “videotape by-passes” to the top performers at the clinic. In simpler terms, dancers who receive this honor will skip the initial step of submitting a video tape and instead be automatically invited to the in-person tryout in May 2023. Furthermore, there is the possibility of being personally chosen by the coaches to join the UK Dance Team right then and there.
The University of Kentucky Dance Team boasts two outstanding teams – the Blue Team and the White Team. The Blue Team dazzles the crowds at home football games and home men’s basketball games, while the White Team captivates audiences at home football games and home women’s basketball games. With a rich history of excellence, it’s no surprise that the UK Dance Team has achieved remarkable success. In fact, they placed 6th in the nation in the UDA Hip Hop Div. 1A and secured a commendable 5th place in the nation in the Game Day division. Furthermore, in 2017, they had the immense honor of representing the USA at the ICU World Championship, where they brought home Silver medals in both the Hip Hop and Pom categories.
