Kentucky to Face Tennessee Tech in Sunday Matinee

by

The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will face off against Tennessee Tech this Sunday, December 3rd, at 1 p.m. ET in the Clive M. Beck Center at Transylvania University. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ and the play-by-play can be heard on UK Sports Network and 630 AM WLAP, with Darren Headrick providing commentary.

Kentucky’s last game was a thrilling victory over Boston College, with a final score of 83-81. This win ended a five-game losing streak and contributed to the SEC’s success in the ACC / SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge. The game saw 11 ties and 12 lead changes, including a crucial layup by senior guard Eniya Russell in the final seconds to secure the win for the Wildcats.

The upcoming game against Tennessee Tech will take place at the Clive M. Beck Center, where Kentucky holds a perfect 2-0 record. This game is part of a challenging nonconference schedule for the Wildcats, as they are one of only two SEC teams, alongside No. 1 South Carolina, to face at least six Power 5 opponents during this period. In fact, Kentucky’s current stretch includes six Power 5 opponents out of seven games.

Leading the Wildcats in scoring is Maddie Scherr, who is averaging 14.0 points per game. She has reached double digits in scoring in five of the last six games, including a standout performance against Cincinnati where she scored 25 points and made five 3-pointers. Ajae Petty follows closely behind with 13.3 points per game and is leading the team in rebounds with 9.1 per game. Petty also has three double-doubles this season and ranks second in the league in field goal percentage and third in rebounds.

Fans attending the Kentucky-Tennessee Tech game can participate in the Shoot Your Shot Day promotion, which allows them to take a free polaroid photo upon entry. There will also be on-court fan games during timeouts for fans to “shoot their shot.” Limited tickets are still available, but purchasing in advance is recommended as they may not be guaranteed at the door.

Parking options for fans include lots marked with a “P” on the parking map, which are available for spectators all day due to it being a weekend game. Fans can also choose to park in the BTSU lot and take the shuttle to and from the arena, with the shuttle service starting 90 minutes prior to tip-off.
