The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program has announced its promotional schedule for the upcoming Southeastern Conference (SEC) schedule. As part of the ongoing celebration of its 50th anniversary of varsity status, the program has planned several special games and events.
The SEC home schedule for the 2023-24 season will be hosted at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the upcoming SEC home schedule.
The promotional schedule includes a variety of themed games and events. The first game on January 4 will be the SEC Home Opener against Arkansas, which will feature a performance by the 24-time national championship UK cheerleading team.
On January 11, the program will have a 2000s-inspired “trucker hat” giveaway for the first 500 fans, and will recognize and celebrate “everyday heroes” throughout the game. Military service members and first responders can also receive free tickets.
The game on January 21 against Missouri will be part of the annual “We Back Pat” week, which aims to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. The program will also have a Cheer Day, where children can sign up to learn from and perform with the UK cheerleading team.
On February 1, the program will host the annual “Equality & Inclusion Night” to keep equality and inclusion in the local, regional, and national conversation.
The game on February 11 against Texas A&M will be part of the annual “Play4Kay” week, which aims to highlight the fight against breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and will receive pink pom-poms. It is also National Girls & Women in Sports Day, which celebrates the achievements of girls and women in sports.
The game on February 18 against Florida will be Alumni Day, where the program will recognize alumni from every decade with on-court appearances and video elements.
On February 25, the program will have Senior Day to recognize its departing seniors, and fans will have a chance to win prizes throughout the game during Fandemonium. There will also be a performance by Umbrella Lina at halftime.
The last regular-season home game on February 29 against Ole Miss will be Leap Day, featuring Leap Day activities throughout the game.
Throughout the season, the program will also celebrate its 50th anniversary of varsity status. There will be a birthday party package available, as well as opportunities for youth teams to be recognized as the team of the game. Group tickets and free admission for UK faculty, staff, and students will also be available.
