The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team is gearing up for a highly-anticipated showdown against No. 18/18 Louisville on Sunday, Dec. 10. This will mark the sixth Power 5 team the Wildcats have faced in their last seven games. The game, which will take place at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, promises to be an exciting match-up for fans of both teams.

UK currently holds the upper hand in the rivalry, leading UofL with a 34-24 record in their 59 previous meetings. However, Louisville has emerged victorious in their last six encounters. Kentucky will be looking to end this losing streak and get back in the win column after suffering a 76-57 defeat against Minnesota in their last game.

The Wildcats have been dealing with several injuries recently, which limited them to just seven available players in their previous match. Despite the adversity, senior forward Ajae Petty has been a standout performer for the team. Petty contributed 20 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals in the loss to Minnesota. Her recent performances have been particularly impressive, earning her the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honor after recording back-to-back games with at least 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Petty has been leading the team in scoring with an average of 15.9 points per game, while also excelling on the boards with 10.0 rebounds per game. She ranks second in the league in both field-goal percentage (61.2%) and rebounds (100). Maddie Scherr, a senior guard from Florence, Kentucky, has been another key contributor despite missing four games due to injury. Scherr averages 14.0 points per game. Eniya Russell, a senior guard from Baltimore, Maryland, rounds out the team’s double-digit scorers with 10.6 points per game.

The upcoming game against Louisville will be Kentucky’s second true road game of the season and the final one in their nonconference schedule. After this match, the Wildcats will return home for their last three nonconference games, which will be held at Rupp Arena. Their final game of the nonconference schedule is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 31 against Samford at the Clive M. Beck Center on the campus of Transylvania University.

Fans can catch all the action of the Kentucky vs. Louisville game on ACC Network, with Roy Philpott and Brooke Weisbrod providing the play-by-play commentary. Additionally, UK Sports Network and 630 AM WLAP will be broadcasting the game with Darren Headrick on the mic.
